B18 Lady

Width: 210mm
Length: 265mm
Weight: 700g

We are proud to offer the B18 Lady, featuring the original embossed flowers design of 1905. In 1898 John Boultbee Brooks patented a process to emboss leather saddles. By the beginning of the 1900’s Brooks was able to supply a range of richly decorated products for ladies. The B18 Lady is one of the finest examples of these saddles. A true collector’s item, the B18 Lady also features the same unique loop springs - incorporated within the saddles rails - which were among the first suspension features to be patented by our forefathers.

Re-establishing an old Brooks tradition

Written by Brandon Burian from Canada 6/5/2009

Bought the seat to put on my Electra Indy and will never go back so comfortable once it was worn in, plus adds so much Bling that my wife was jealous and had to get a B18

This is my first Brooks saddle -- I chose it by chance at the bike shop as they were building up my new Surly LHT because it was the only woman's saddle available and I liked the dark brown. It's a gorgeous saddle and the most comfortable I have ever used -- no break-in time necessary, probably due to the embossing. Thanks so much for re-releasing such a fantastic original and comfortable saddle! I love it.

Ordered one of these fine saddles in for my girlfirend, what a piece of craftsmanship, only to discover that you need either an "old" style seat post or something called a Seat Sandwich (thank you the late Sheldon Brown). So all she can do now is look at the saddle but has got to use the old one.
Why can you not state on you new website that any one purchasing a double rail saddle will need to purchase a "old" style seat tube as well if they have a micro adjust/modern seat post? Places like Harris Cyclery in the US include a new seat tube in the box, maybe Brooks should put one in there too.

Q > I recently bought a Pilen Swedish Classic bike. It rolls silently and like a dream, however, the B66 saddle makes a lot of noise during riding, probably coming from the springs and suspension. Is this normal and acceptable?

A > Some squeaking can happen. It is normally due to the rubbing between the leather top and the metal parts, either on the nose or on the back plate. Try to put some Proofide where you believe the squeaking is coming from.
