TEAM PRO Alpe d'Huez

TEAM PRO Alpe d'Huez

Width: 160mm

Length: 260mm

Weight: 550g
Frame: Chromium Plated Steel

Alpe d'Huez is one of the main climbs and has been a stage finish in the Tour de France almost every year since 1976. The first was in 1952, won by Fausto Coppi, at a time when most cyclists were riding Brooks Saddles.
The pattern of the Alpe d’Huez impressed on this saddle has been designed by Dan Funderburgh, a wallpaper designer and artist in Brooklyn, NY. His patterns, prints and installations are varied in content but all demonstrate an unabashed love for decorative arts.
With influences ranging from Moorish mosaic to American op art, the work is a repudiation of the fabricated schism between art and decoration. Some of Dan’s work can be found in the collections of the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum and the Miami Museum of Modern Art. Dan loves bicycles and has created wallpaper patterns with bicycle parts.

Re-establishing an old Brooks tradition

Could you please tell me, is the Alpe d'Huez based on the B17, if not which saddle model is it closest too?

answer - the Team Professional, of course.  Its funny how often we get this question...

I have used this for about 50 miles in the last 2 days after getting my Condor Fratello. The seat so far seems very comfortable. I was worried about the nightmare stories I read regarding the 'breaking in' period, but so far, no such problems (or sores!!). The Team Pro Chrome in black looks stunning by the way. I am really pleased with it and I can see me being a customer of Brooks England for some time..

I have three Team Pro saddles, one for each bike. I will never ride on anything else.

I've had the Team Pro Alpe d'Huez on my commute fixie for a few months now, not only does it look stupendous, but it's far and away the comfiest saddle I've had - I mean it, not padding just seems to work, far better than all my previous saddles, and that's straight out of the box.

Only problem has been I showed my others up and I've upgraded my road bike to the white Team Pro, and my MTB is net in line for a black Team Pro Alpe d'Huez. Expensive upgrades, but worth it in the long run I reckon. And genuine craft is worth paying for.

What type of bike would fit this saddle? I'd want to add it to my steel race bike (Bianchi), but i only see commuters reply...

answer>> This saddle is absolutely appropriate for a steel racing bike!

G'day. I like the saddle, but I am really liking the fact that you have a Team Pro in Brown. When can you do a Pro in brown leather as a regular production item? Cheers Scott.

answer - The Team Pro is available year-round under our "Special" line!

Q> is the alpe d'huez made in england also? i see its pretty much the only saddle that dosent say MADE IN ENGLAND in huge letters on the bottom of its web-page...so it made me wonder.

its a rad design either way.

A> the Alpe D'Huez, like all Brooks saddles, is made in our factory in Smethwick, England.

I have been riding my Alpe d'Huez on my commuter for two months now and I am very pleased, I now know what people are talking about! Working for one of Brooks 6 rivet dealers, it was a matter of time before I bought my first Brooks. This is a jewel on my bike.

Q> I love my old brooks B17 and I am thinking of purchasing my first Team Pro with the Alpe D'Huez, but the colors look much darker in both honey and brown than the traditional brooks leathers. Are the colors shown on the site true to life? If so, would this team pro honey be closer to my standard B17 brown?

A>  The leathers used are the same colors in al of our models, you would not want to substitute the honey in this case.
