After several years away from cycling I recently decided to build myself a new bike. I have some form in this respect as I was a designer at Pashley for 7 odd years and then had my own cycle company for a while untill i sold it to go and get a "proper job" Bored with Carbon this and Carbon that I opted to make a lightweight steel frame in a classic style. I chose Columbus Spirit for the tubing, which I fillet brazed and obviously went Campag for the gears. Finally I managed to get hold of some deadstock Mavic reflex clinchers and built them up onto Royce hubs with Sapim lasers. Building wheels is always fun and i went crowsfoot on the front to give a bit more lateral rigidity that the "standard" radial. Then after airbrushing the frame I just had to top it off with a Swift Titanium. Ive had more questions and admiring glances whilst out on this than any other bike Ive ever ridden, and Ive ridden some pretty strange prototypes in my time!
